Children’s activities this summer at NECC will focus on creativity.  During each week of the month of July our camp will engage in a different creative activity.  The month’s themes include:

COME CREATE….a Work of Art…
July 6 - 9
: We will explore various media and write and illustrate our own books. A field trip is planned to the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, MA.

COME CREATE….a Lego Solution…
July 12-16: We will build the lego structures necessary for several challenging missions then program the robot to complete those missions.

COME CREATE….a Crazy Invention…
July 19-23: We will examine some of the inventions that changed our world and also experience how things interact by making a wacky domino run.  Participants will also be inventing their own musical instruments. A field trip is planned to Thomas Edison’s lab in Menlo Park, NJ.

COME CREATE….a Time Machine …
July 26 - 30:
Travel back in time to Colonial Days...Medieval Days...and more!

A typical day at camp will include a morning time period with theme related activities, outdoor play and active games, water games, DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read), and leadership development activities for the older children as well as arts and crafts projects, snacks and time to hang out with friends.

As part of our afternoon activities we will feature music time with Jon G. and the possibility of some individual music lessons, nature time with Fran Martino, hiking adventures at local parks and much more.

Any children who have finished grades K – 6th are eligible to attend. Registration materials are available from the North East Community Center (or download from the link on the right side of the screen).

Hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with limited room for early drop off for working parents (by special arrangement.)

Cost is $100 per week with scholarship assistance available.  This fee covers the expense of the guest leaders as well as the transportation and entry fees for the field trips. One snack per day will also be provided.

10% discount for fully paid enrollment by June 1.

The director for this program will be Jan Brooks, Program Director at the North East Community Center.  We maintain a ratio of one adult for every eight children in our program so we can insure careful supervision and offer positive mentorship to the children entrusted to us.

To enroll fill out the application form and mail or bring it to us. For more information call or email Jan at neccmillerton dot org.
